This data visualization of college football attendance began a year ago when a BYU fan on Twitter going by the handle of @artdirectorbyu posted a link to a spreadsheet he made containing college football attendance for most every FBS school for the years 2006-2011.

We downloaded the spreadsheet and added a column for stadium capacity so we could analyze how full the various stadiums are (we also adjusted the stadium numbers to account for renovations). We used Tableau to create a dashboard where you can analyze the various schools and conferences, compare them, etc.

We initiated the visualization with a comparison of Utah and BYU because, well, we’re in Utah and the comparison is inevitable. Of course, you can select whichever teams or conferences you’d like to see or compare. Have fun!
